Success at Mountpark Southampton
Leading real estate developer Mountpark Logistics has successfully let the entire first phase of their new speculative industrial / logistics development at Wide Lane, Southampton prior to Practical Completion.
Mountpark Southampton, which is owned as part of a joint venture between Mountpark and USAA Realco, has quickly established itself as the premier logistics park along the south coast. The scheme is ideally located for both national and international markets, situated at Junction 5 of the M27 Motorway and within easy reach of Southampton Airport, Airport Parkway station and Southampton Docks.
Phase 1, which forms three units of 47,250 sq ft, 60,000 sq ft and 100,660 sq ft, has been successfully let to Murray Health & Beauty, Berendsen and CooperVision respectively. This follows the recent announcement of the sale of 6.67 acres on the opposite site of Wide Lane to Inchcape Plc for the development of a new Jaguar Land Rover showroom facility.
It is estimated that these transactions will result in over 600 new jobs for the region.
It is understood that Mountpark have also completed the acquisition of a further 9.7 acres from Balmoral and, following the success of Phase 1, will develop out of four units totalling 341,040 sq ft. A planning application has been submitted with development expected to commence on site later this year. Phase 2 will provide a range of units from 67,500 sq ft to 106,390 sq ft. Units can be combined to provide up to 180,000 sq.ft in a single facility.
Mountpark Southampton, when fully developed will provide 548,950 sq ft of high specification industrial and logistics accommodation.
