Outside dining is a great way to help the recovery of the hospitality sector. Southampton City Council and Go!Southampton have been working together to help the recovery of the hospitality sector by creating safe spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy outdoor dining. The ‘Inside Out' pilot scheme launched on 22 August 2020.
For an initial six months, three sections of road - on Bedford Place, Carlton Place and Lower Banister Street - will be closed and pedestrianised to create an opportunity for businesses to use the space for outdoor eating and drinking. Many businesses have already applied to use these extra spaces and others are already making use of the extra available space.
To take advantage of these extra opportunities, businesses can now apply for outdoor seating in a much quicker and cost-effective way. The Southampton City Council website has got all the detail on how to apply.
