Information
The Guildhall Square is set for a dramatic transformation that will stretch from the Guildhall entrance, all the way to the Tyrrell & Green site, linking through to the city's parks.
When complete, this contemporary space will feature many striking design features, making it the perfect meeting place and setting for performing arts shows, exhibitions and an array of exciting seasonal events.
The square will be at the very heart of the city’s Cultural Quarter becoming a new focus for Northern Above Bar. It will also make a major contribution to the redevelopment of the former Tyrrell & Green department store and the new Regional Business Centre (at the site of the former C&A store). Southampton City Council is working to attract over £75m investment to assist in the regeneration and development of this area.
Work on the redevelopment of Guildhall Square will commence in September 2009 and will take approximately one year to complete.
