Plot 1 - £10 m investment from Southampton City Council / £750,000 grant from Homes and Communities Agency
Construction began in September 2017 on Plot 1 of the Townhill Park Regeneration project providing 56 affordable homes with completion planned for March 2019. Drew Smith Limited, part of regeneration business Galliford Try Partnerships, have been appointed as the contractor. The homes will be developed and owned by Southampton City Council and will be available for rent at affordable rents. They will include 17 one-bedroom flats; 26 two-bedroom flats; seven three-bedroom flats and six two-storey, three-bedroom houses. The council’s £10m investment in Plot 1 is supported by a £750,000 grant from the Homes and Communities Agency and money received in Section 106 payments from private housing developers.
These affordable homes are the first step in a much larger project designed to help transform the Townhill community and provide around 665 new homes.
Plans for Plot 2 are being progressed and are expected to include around 213 homes, with a mix of about 45-55% affordable housing and the remainder let for private rental. Further details will be released shortly.
