Kitchen Giant Signs for Southampton Industrial Space

9 June 2010

Legal & General Property, advised by national commercial property consultancy, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH), has let a further unit at Waterloo Industrial Estate in Hedge End, Southampton, to Howdens Joinery.

Unit 7, totalling 12,255 sq ft, has been let to Howdens Joinery Properties Ltd at a rent of £73,350 per annum on a new 15-year lease. Howdens Joinery supplies over 400,000 kitchens each year to UK homes, operating as a trade-only company supplying registered account holders. It selected Waterloo Industrial Estate as part of its continuing depot opening programme, and on account of its proximity to other trade businesses and its prominence as the area’s main industrial estate.

Adrian Whitfield, Director within the Industrial & Logistics team at LSH’s Southampton office, commented: “As soon as units on the estate have become vacant, our client has embarked on comprehensive refurbishment projects in order to offer higher quality premises to the market, while ensuring improved rental income.”

LSH acts jointly with King Sturge in marketing available space on the estate, with Montagu Evans representing Howdens Joinery on this transaction.
