Southampton Airport�s August passengers figures remain strong
Southampton Airport�s August passenger figures reached an all time high. For the first time ever, over 152,000 passengers used Southampton Airport, up 8.4% on August 2003, making it the busiest month. This equates to over 4,900 passengers using Southampton Airport every day.
On average 109 commercial aircraft took off and landed at Southampton Airport daily, during the month of August. This totalled 3,388 commercial aircraft movements, up 3.5% compared to same month last year.
David Cumming, Managing Director, Southampton Airport commented; �August was an exciting month at Southampton Airport. Our busiest day was 16th August when we welcomed 5,991 passengers. We also celebrated the 20th Birthday of our specialist operator, Skybus, who operate three services a week to the Isles of Scilly.�
Popular summer routes this August included Alicante, Minorca, Murcia and Faro
Southampton Airport�s route network now totals 33 destinations in 9 European countries. Over 71,000 passengers travelled to European destinations in August 2004.
