Location of WestQuay Phase 3
This 5 ha area is adjacent to the highly successful WestQuay Shopping Centre, fronting onto the High Street and Bargate and completes the redevelopment of the whole site into the primary retail and leisure area on the South Coast.
There will be a 5,000 seat multi purpose arena, to include an Olympic size ice rink, which will provide space for conferences, concerts and exhibitions. This will be complemented by an �Open Plaza�, capable of staging a variety of special events throughout the year and will provide a focus for people to meet and enjoy the facilities on offer, with the distinctive backdrop of the medieval Old Town Walls. There will also be residential and office space, giving a healthy mix of uses to help create a vibrant and exciting city centre area.
The masterplan below has been prepared over a six-month period through a process of close collaboration and joint working between the design team, Hammerson as lead developer, Southampton City Council officers, and council representatives and their consultants, and with the Bravo Consortium who are developing detailed proposals for the new Southampton Arena in the western part of the masterplan area.
