Location of Charlotte Place
This area, on the north eastern approach, is ideal for a key landmark building to provide a reference point marking arrival at the city centre.
It will add to the proposed backdrop of tall buildings fronting onto the central parks, linking these with the regeneration area of St Marys.
The development consits of a 240-bed hotel, with office and residential units, built around a courtyard and over an underground car park, which will be constructed on the existing roundabout. Subway links and other pedestrian crossings will be enhanced to improve the access from St Marys to the city centre and central parks via a green landscaped corridor. There will be a new Healthy Living Centre on the St Marys Road site, providing a range of health and leisure facilities and further commercial and residential development on the existing ambulance station and central health clinic site on East Park Terrace.
