Humberts ends client's three year search for new site
Property experts at Humberts have helped a Hampshire firm put the perfect roof over its head � after a lengthy three year search.
Robert Turnbull Roofing Merchants, which has been run for the last 12 years from converted agricultural buildings near Romsey, has just bought an industrial unit at Eastgate Works in Chapel Lane, Southampton.
The unit, which features an office and workshops of 11,000 sq ft, as well as a secure yard, on a site of over half an acre, is in an extremely prominent location on the corner of Marine Parade and Chapel Road in Northam, Southampton.
Turnbull Roofing Products, which imports and distributes roofing materials, bought the 67-year lease at a ground rent of �18,000 per year.
Managing director Bob Turnbull said: �We decided to move because we needed both more space and a higher profile for the company.
�I wanted to buy, rather than rent, because it�s a tax efficient investment, and had been looking for suitable premises for the last three years. As there have been few business freehold properties available to buy, I snapped up Eastgate Works when it became available.
�It is in a good location for our business, - not only is it highly visible but it is in an established business area.
�The site also came with an added bonus; it�s just a quarter of a mile from Southampton Football Club�s St. Mary�s stadium. On match days we loan the yard to the Football Club for VIP parking and in return receive free tickets to its executive suite � what better way to treat our staff or entertain our clients!�
