Aldi appoints local agents
Humberts Commercial has been appointed by quality discount supermarket chain Aldi to find new tenants for the balance of its latest store in Romsey.
Aldi, which recently received planning permission for the refurbishment of the former Waitrose Store in The Hundred, is planning to open 12,000 sq ft of the ground floor as its newest branch towards Christmas 2004.
The former supermarket site in Romsey town centre has been hidden behind construction boards for some time. As part of Aldis complete interior and exterior refurbishment of the building including levelling its notoriously sloping floor - the company is creating a new 900 sq ft double fronted shop unit with access onto the major shopping area of The Hundred.
Vail Williams has been appointed as joint agents with Humberts in the search for a new tenant to occupy the town centres latest prime retail site which will benefit from the Aldi car park at its rear with access from Broadwater Road.
Andrew Archibald, senior associate with Humberts, commented: "We expect there to be a lot of interest in this property. Romsey is a thriving shopping area, which is in the process of being further revitalised by its extensive Town Centre Enhancement Scheme."
"The new 900 sq ft is in an ideal location, benefiting as it does from excellent footfall of passing shoppers as well as the convenience of the extensive car park at the rear of the new Aldi store."
"Vacant retail space of this quality rarely becomes available in Romsey, and the double fronted shop unit will be an attractive option for any number of retailers."
