Southampton's oldest warehouse gets a high tech future
Humberts Commercial has just secured a high tech future for Southampton�s oldest warehouse, The Store, with a new three year lease to internet book sales company freshchapter.com.
Fresh Chapter Ltd is an internet based company specialising in second hand and out of print books that will try and locate any book, even if its exact details cannot be remembered.
Built in the late 18th Century as an outbuilding to the Anchor Hotel, �The Store� on Test Road, Redbridge, is a Grade II listed building immediately adjacent to the Redbridge Causeway and within half a mile of the M271. It has been let to Fresh Chapter on a new three year full repairing and insuring lease at �8,000 per annum.
Craig Powell a Senior Surveyor with Southampton based Humberts Chartered Surveyors said: �We are especially pleased to have found new tenants for �The Store� as it is believed to be the oldest warehouse still in use within Southampton.
�The arrival of Fresh Chapter marks a new era for this historic building and provides the company with about 3,000 sq ft of space � space for a lot of book shelves!�
