To identify the reasons for low economic activity in Southampton
- Research into barriers to employment for various groups in the city
- Women
- Residents in wards with high levels of deprivation
- Older workers
- Disabled people
- People with mental health difficulties
- Lone parents
- Homeless people
- People from ethnic minorities, (refugees and asylum seekers are included in a separate study)
- Long term unemployed
- Young unemployed
- Offenders and ex-offenders
- People lacking basic and key skills
- Workshops and round table discussions bringing together local, regional, and national experts to discuss Southampton's key employment issues
- A final conference to disseminate the research findings
