City Life Education & Action for Refugees (CLEAR)

Final report - October 2004

To identity the key employment issues facing refugees and make recommendations to local organisations

  • An analysis of


    • The existing employment and training support services available to refugees


    • The employment issues facing refugees in Southampton

  • This will be based on interviews with around 100 refugees and asylum seekers and will include a skills assessment


  • Identification of the gaps that exist in the current level of support provided to refugees in education, training, and employment.


  • Recommendations to local agencies in order for them to improve their services to refugees, drawing upon national good practice


  • Information on local employment and training services available to refugees that maybe used in a city guide book on employment and training.


  • A seminar of local and regional groups to discuss the results of the survey and disseminate results
